FWC unveils interactive website to help explorers find recreation sites near them

Florida Fish and Wildlife launches new interactive website to help users find WMA recreation areas. (FWC)

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is now offering a website that offers an easier way for nature lovers to plan their excursions.

Users of the website can experience a catered search of over 6 million acres of state-managed conservation lands.

The site allows visitors to narrow results on an interactive map by inputting their ZIP code and selecting their preferred recreation type, trail type, included amenities and accessible facilities.

The types of recreation range from the leisurely to the more intense: boating, paddling, horseback riding and hunting are some of the options.

The options are not just in areas that the FWC oversees but also in cooperatively managed areas.

There is plenty to choose from considering Florida has among the most state-managed wildlife lands in the country.

FWC hopes the website will allow visitors more opportunities to enjoy the land they maintain, enhance and restore.
